David W. Nitchkey
Principal
For nearly 31 years Mr. Nitchkey has produced innovative, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing design solutions for a wide range of public and private clients. With a rich eye for detail and a keen sense of scale and proportion, Mr. Nitchkey has designed, and contributed to the design of many significant, recognizable, and award winning projects.
Trained in design and project management at Penn State University, Mr. Nitchkey first applied his trade in smaller firms, where he developed programming and design solutions for K-12, higher education, commercial, religious, and residential clients. During that time, he was a contributing designer on several premier performing arts and academic spaces for the University of Pittsburgh, Point Park College, and Carnegie Mellon University.
Prior to establishing Core Architects, David was the corporate architect for Dicks Sporting Goods, and Aetos/Giant Eagle, where he managed the design of the iconic retail store prototypes and
exterior images we see in our own communities everyday. At Core Architects, David leads and provides quality control over all design activities of the firm. He participates in Programming, Strategic Master Planning, and project delivery, while helping clients translate their strategic vision and mission into buildings that meet their needs and exceed their expectations.
