Greensburg, PA – Addition & Renovation - 85,000 sq/ft Addition w/ 300,000 sq/ft Renovation - $132 Million
CORE Architects design for the renovations and addtions to Hempfield Area High School, in Greensburg, PA., includes demolition to structure of the interior of the 300,000 GSF existing High School, and reconstruction of the interior spaces to meet a 21st century educational curriculum.
The scope also includes the construction of a new addition at the Auditorium, and conversion of the stage area to full-fly capability, as well as complete re-imagining of the cafeteria and library media center as a “Student Union” space, with a collegiate character. A new 80,000 GSF Natatorium and Competition Gymnasium complex, with associated support facilities, will be built to increase athletic capacity, modernize athletic facilities, and free-up space in the existing building for additional academic program spaces.
The phased project will involve relocating of the 9th grade for the life of the project, and careful coordination of the 36 month construction project. At the time of bidding, this will be one of the largest K-12 public High School projects in Pennsylvania history.
